Blue & White Salad Plate Set

Our inspired set of six blue-and-white salad plates reproduces the detailing on six ceramic treasures in The Met collection: a British tile (ca. 1875) painted with flying cranes—the Japanese symbol for longevity—designed by Christopher Dresser (British, 1834–1904) for Minton Ceramic Factory (British, 1793–present); a late 17th-century Edo-period Japanese dish, likewise featuring a pair of cranes; a 19th-century Chinese porcelain platter and rack painted with an idyllic landscape scene; a 16th-century plate with a floral and foliate motif, attributed to the Iznik kilns in Turkey; a 16th-century blue-and-turquoise dish considered to be one of the most spectacular Iznik pieces in the Museum’s collection; and a Chinese porcelain dish with flowering branches ( late 16th–early 17th…See More
