This beaded box clutch adapts the motif on a splendid evening jacket (1937) in The Met collection. Silver and gold planets, rhinestone crescent moons, swirling comets, and shooting stars illuminate a bodice speckled with beadwork dust, while the 12 symbols of the zodiac embellish the jacket’s center front. The original garment was crafted in 1937 by the master embroiderers at the House of Lesage (French, founded 1924).
