The Met has partnered with Harney & Sons on this unique, art-inspired tin containing loose-leaf Earl Grey tea and displaying a detail from Strawberry Thief (design registered 1883, printed 1917–23) by William Morris (British, 1834–1896).
The inspiration for this kaleidoscopic cotton textile in the Museum’s holdings was derived from the designer’s country home, Kelmscott Manor, where a community of thieving thrushes would pluck the strawberries from his garden. Today, Strawberry Thief is one of Morris’s most celebrated patterns.
