Hokusai Great Wave Cap

Our cap adapts a detail from Katsushika Hokusai’s (Japanese, 1760–1849) Under the Wave off Kanagawa, also known as The Great Wave (ca. 1830–32). This monumental woodblock print in The Met collection belongs to a series entitled Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, in which Hokusai captures the imposing peak from a range of clever perspectives.
