Our zip-up hooded sweatshirt exhibits The Met logo on the front, and a fearsome Japanese mask on the back. The image is inspired by an iron, lacquer, and silk mask (dated 1745) in The Met collection—one of the few to retain its original silk head covering sewn to the upper edges—inscribed by Myōchin Muneakira (Japanese, 1673–1745) and designed to represent Jikokuten, guardian of the East and one of the Four Kings of Heaven.
