A gift of friendship from France to the United States, Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi’s (French, 1834–1904) Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor in 1885. That same year, the celebrated New York printmaking firm Currier & Ives (American, 1857–1907) captured the landmark in a grand, aerial vista. Our kids’ tee features The Met logo with a detail from The Great Bartholdi Statue – Liberty Enlightening the World (1885), a hand-colored lithograph in the Museum’s holdings.
